When it comes to bringing as much light into your home as possible, many homeowners opt to have a conservatory built. Not only does this new room expand the space in your home. Conservatories also bridge that gap between indoors and out, allowing you to appreciate your garden for even longer. They can be transformed into playrooms for children, entertaining spaces for loved ones or relaxing spots where members of the household can while away the hours. The right conservatory roof blind will help you to optimise the new room. But, how effective are they? And, should you consider investing in them, even though you’ve just spent so much time designing the perfect space? Read our latest blog post here.

Are Roof Lantern Blinds A Good Idea?
A quick search on Google Trends shows that the term ‘house extension’ has reached an all-time high in 2020. In many ways, this is no surprise. We spent a considerable percentage of this year indoors, trying to make the most of our available spaces. And, from this, our need to extend outwards (or upwards) has increased. When designing extensions, there are a whole host of considerations to make. And, a key one for us here at Skylight Blinds Direct is, what type of window you plan to have fitted.
Internal or External Skylight Blinds – Which Is Best For Your Home?
As more and more of us look to extend our homes, skylight windows are continuing to rise in popularity. With this, there is an increased need for homeowners to understand their options when it comes to window dressings. Managing light and privacy are essential – especially when you’re working with windows directly facing the sun and overlooked in new ways, previously unconsidered ways. For skylight windows, you have two main options when it comes to light management – internal or external skylight blinds. But, what are the differences? And, which ones are best suited to your home?
The right window blind for flat roof windows
With more and more of us opting to expand our homes instead of moving, it has become more common for homeowners to be faced with the option of choosing the right window. Once reserved for those in property development or interior design, now the right window is a decision many will have to make. While some extensions can use standard windows, others require a more unique solution. Flat roof windows are one such option. Letting optimal light in and creating a modern look, this option has become even more popular. But, what is the right window blind for flat roof windows? And, do you even need one?
Flat roof windows, roof lanterns, or skylights – How to choose the right blind
In mid-2019, the government changed the Permitted Development rights to make extending your home easier. These grants allow homeowners to undertake certain works on their homes without the need to apply for planning permission. For many, it now means that commissioning a single or double-storey extension to their home has become more affordable. Pair this with the fact that we have an ageing population with more multi-generational homes and the need for space is ever-increasing, we expect to see the number of extension projects continue to rise in line with this.
5 Reasons Why You Need A Roof Lantern Blind

Do I need to update my roof blind for Autumn?
As Autumn begins to roll in, you may be looking at the different ways in which you can improve your home. Colder days, more rain and less light all force us to readdress our indoor spaces and establish whether they’re likely to work as effectively during these colder months. While light may seem like less of a pressing issue now, it’s still a factor you’ll need to consider when it comes to usability.
