Made to Measure Skylight Blinds

Purchasing skylight blinds for Fakro windows, Keylite windows and Velux windows is relatively easy seeing as these are some of the top window brands in the current market. However, if you’ve got an older make of skylight window or one that’s unusually shaped, finding a blind that fits can be difficult. That’s why here at Skylight Blinds Direct, we are now offering a made to measure service to create a stylish and efficient blind that’s the perfect fit for your window; all you need to do is provide us with the required measurements and we’ll do the rest…

To create your very own bespoke skylight blind, follow these simple steps:

1. Clear the Window of Obstructions

To ensure you provide us with the correct measurements, start by making sure that there are no obstructions on or around the window before you measure it. For example, if you have been using a makeshift blind or a blind that’s required additional support e.g. from a handle or rail, be sure that the blind and all of its additional features are removed.

2. Measure Horizontally

Once all the obstructions have been cleared, grab your tape measure and measure horizontally the internal frame width of your window (A). Do this by placing your tape measure at the left-hand edge of the frame and measuring across to the adjacent edge. Then, measure the visible glass width; do this by placing your tape measure inside the frame and measuring across to the other side where the glass ends and the frame starts (B).

3.Measure Vertically

Next, you’ll need to tackle the vertical dimensions of your skylight window; begin by measuring the internal frame drop (C). Again, place your tape measure at the edge of the lower part of the top of your window frame and measure downwards to the edge of the upper part of the bottom of your window frame. Once you’ve done this, measure the visible glass drop by placing your tape measure inside the frame and measuring down to the bottom of the window where the glass ends and the frame begins (D).

4.Measure the Depth

Finally, you’ll need to measure the depth of your window; to do this, start with measuring the depth of frame (side) by placing your tape measure on the inside of your window frame and measuring outwards (E). Then, measure the depth of frame (top) by placing your tape measure on the bottom of the frame and again, measuring outwards (F).

Once you’ve got a full set of measurements, all that’s left to do is pick the style and colour of your blind; from vibrant patterns to neutral tones, we’ve got colours and patterns to suit everyone, so finding your ideal shade will be no problem. Then, simply pop your measurements and preferences along to us and we’ll get going on creating your dream skylight blind!

As well as being made with the utmost care, each of our bespoke blinds also come with additional features including brush seals, clips and enclosed fabric, making them incredibly effective when it comes to blocking out light and making for a longer lifespan overall.
